Contacting Mahi Pono
Mahi Pono’s agricultural programs are a brilliant step to making Hawaii sustainable. (can be changed depending on who we are working with)
Our names are Tara, Allison, and Jaci and we are freshmans at Kihei Charter who are working on a program called the Climate Literacy Project.
We are aiming to create a plan in which we can turn Maui into a more sustainable community through the process of food waste reduction to mitigate the effects climate change has brought us.
We would love to ask you some questions to help us gain insight on this process:
1. What is the most effective and sustainable way to reduce food waste?
2. How will food waste reduction result in Hawaii becoming less reliant on out of state suppliers?
3. How long will it take for Hawaii to become less reliant on out of state food suppliers?
4. How does Mahi Pono expect to prevent food waste within their agricultural processes?
5. Without fully relying on external production imports (such as fertilizers and food supply) how do you plan on providing Hawaii with healthy produce?
